Who can purchase Travel Smart Insurance?

Travel Smart is exclusive to passengers departing from or travelling within the Philippines who are at least one (1) month old but not more than eighty (80) years old on the Effective Date of coverage.


If I am travelling in a group and made a flight booking under one booking, will everyone in the travelling party be covered?

Yes, all passengers aged one (1) month old but not more than eighty (80) years old on the Effective Date of coverage will be covered.


Can I purchase Travel Smart Insurance if I am not a resident of the Philippines?

Yes, as long as you are departing from Philippines.


Can I avail Travel Smart Insurance if I am travelling from other country to Philippines?

No, because Travel Smart is for outbound flights only departing from Philippines.


Is Travel Smart Insurance are limited to specific airlines?

No, it is open to all airlines as long as you are departing from Philippines.


Can I avail Travel Insurance within the day of the flight?

It will depend on the time of your flight. Since the policy time starts at 12NN, you should get your Travel Insurance the day before your scheduled flight.

Can I can avail Travel Insurance if I have no return flight ticket to Philippines?

Yes, you can avail the One-Way trip coverage.


Can business travelers purchase this travel insurance?

Yes, but there are excluded occupations as follows:

  1. Flight crew (except as a passenger) - separate product would apply.
  2. Seagoing vessel crew (except as a passenger)
  3. Train crew (except as a passneger)
  4. Mine workers
  5. Oil rig workers
  6. Aeriel photographers
  7. Workers handling explosvies
  8. Personnel of navy, military, air force, law enforcement or civil defense service or operation.

When does Travel Smart Insurance coverage take effect?

All Travel Smart Insurance benefits, except Trip Cancellation, begin two (2) hours before the Insured's scheduled flight departure time and end on whichever of the following occurs first:

  1. Two (2) hours after the Air Carrier's flight arrival time on the return flight for a round-trip itinerary or for one-way itineraries, upon Insured's arrival at the Air Carrier's flight destination;
  2. Upon the expiry of any Period of Insurance during which the Insured ceases to satisfy any of the eligibility requirements set out herein;
  3. Upon the death of the Insured except for death related benefits;
  4. On the date stated in the Policy Schedule or any subsequent endorsements issued by the Company to amend the travel dates as requested by the Policyholder of Insured.
For Trip Cancellation, the benefit takes effect upon confirmation of the application and receipt of premium payment.

What are the difference of Plan A, B, and C?

If you availed the Travel Insurance with Covid-19 Rider for Asia (EXCLUDING JAPAN, KOREA and MIDDLE EAST) and Rest of the World, it will depend on the limit of the coverage. See below:

I have changed the itinerary details of my flight. How can I make changes on Travel Smart Insurance?

After you have made changes to your flight, please contact the Travel Smart Insurance Customer Service at (+632)8243-0075 for the corresponding changes on your Travel Insurance.


I have noticed that the personal details on the Confirmation of Cover are incorrect, what should I do?

Your personal details are likely to be incorrect on your flight ticket also. We recommend you call your Specific Airline Reservations and inform the Customer Service Representatives of the changes that need to be made.

Please contact the Travel Smart Insurance Customer Service at (+632)8243-0075 for the corresponding changes to your Travel Smart Insurance. You will receive a revised Confirmation of Cover with the corrections via email.

When must I inform Travel Smart Insurance of the claim?

  • Medical Expenses or Assistance Claims
  • If you have been hospitalized, or require emergency evacuation or repatriation following an accident or sickness, you must contact our Travel Smart Assistance team immediately or as soon as reasonably possible so that necessary arrangements can be made.

What documents are required to process a claim?

We require a fully completed Claim Form, together with a copy of your itinerary and/or Confirmation of Cover. Depending upon the type of claim, supplementary evidence will be required.

What would be the most important points/ reminders for COVID Rider claim to be valid?

  • Client must be diagnosed as Covid-19 positive during the trip overseas.
  • Client must provide a Negative Pre-Departure Covid-19 test such as PCR obtained w/in 72hrs before departing his trip from the Philippines.

How long does it take to process the claim?

We always strive to process claims as quickly as possible. To avoid delay and to ensure your claims is handled efficiently, please complete the Claim Form in full and submit all required proof of loss documentation.

How are claims paid?

Claims will be paid directly to the medical service provider or via check to the insured depending on the type of claim. All claims are settled in PHP for Domestic flights and USD for Regional or International flights.
